What’s the purpose of our lives?
What matters? Is it friends, Mr. Right, fame, wealth, a comfortable life? Is it to get good grades, find a good job, marry someone, have children, work, retire, relax, and then die?

These are questions I asked myself after witnessing a friend pass away from cancer at the tender age of fourteen. She was a vivacious young lady who had a great amount of zeal for life and love for her family and friends. She was often nicknamed “Miss Sunshine” as she lit up the lives of all that she had touched. I still can remember her bright smile and the warm brown eyes of her, ever patient, ever welcoming. But one day she never opened it again, falling into an eternal coma. I wasn’t that close to her but her death made me see that death wasn’t so far off as it seems, and wondered about my mortality, about life, about death. If we were going to die so soon, what meaning could our lives hold? Because in a while we would return to the same dust that we were made off, and all our pursuits--no matter the goal--seemed futile and meaningless. Think about it. If you were going to die tomorrow, would a high-flying career or money mean that much?

The more I thought about it, the more disillusioned I was. The monotonous cycle of daily life, the endless repetitions--wake up, go to school, come back from school, do homework, sleep--made me feel there was no significance in life. I didn't know who or what to live for. I was looking for a higher purpose, something that would give me a good reason to be alive.

To say it in other words, I was feeling empty. Something was missing, but I didn't know what.
Until I found God. Finding God was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me and even saying that is an understatement to how much He has impacted and changed my life. "We have a Christ-shaped hole in all our hearts," a friend put in best. And I totally agree, for nothing can fill the void permanently except the love and joy and peace that comes from Jesus. We all yearn for Him, but in different ways (which even you may be unaware of). We try to fill in the void with material comforts like the latest iPhone, or doing activities that make us "high". However I'm sure you know from experience that the feeling of euphoria fades away really quickly, leaving the ever present gap in our hearts.

Only God can fill that gap, so I would like to say, "Start living for God today!"
If you haven't accepted Christ, I urge you to pray to accept the Lord as your personal Saviour.

This is going out to everyone who feels that in some way or another, that they are not worthy and capable of love.

Who, at any one point of time, ever felt that they were unimportant and that their presence was meaningless?

Who, at any one point of time, ever not been intentionally or unintentionally hurt by their family and friends?

And who, at any one point of time, has not felt alone, lost, and unloved?

…

That’s my central message for today.
Just three words.
GOD LOVES YOU.

Nothing more than those three words, that if once understood, is the “beginning of wisdom” (Psalms 111:10a). And never mind if you are still grasping with the enormity of it, even I must remind time and again that yes indeed, the Creator of the Universe actually CHOOSES to love us. And He does care, to know our name, our joy, our sorrows...our everything.

Lord, I need Your grace and mercy.
I need to pray like never before.
I need the power of your holy spirit
To open Heaven's door.

Do you sometimes feel like God is "not there"? Do you feel like He's "not listening" to our prayers, and "can't hear" our pleas? When times are tough or your life seems like it's crumbling in pieces and we ask "where is God", know that we can claim the promises He made to us, about never leaving or forsaking us.
The aforementioned song is very powerful indeed. The Lord is working in our lives all the time and though we do not feel particularly spiritual at that point of time, we need to Ask, Praise and Yield to Him. Yes we should all, like the chorus, aim to care for others, yield to God, and "revive our souls with His passion once again".
He is the encourager, our deliverer. He is our fortress, our rock, our refuge. He will be there, waiting for us, patiently loving us. He will be there, behind, in front, with and carrying us. Afterall, God is love.
Ask, seek, knock and you will receive. Do not worry, for the Lord will carry your burdens.
I can do things through Christ, not by my own works, but by His saving grace and mercy. Yes, we must pray like never before, we indeed need the power of the Holy spirit to open Heaven's door.
Take comfort in His word and have courage to face your fears.
He will be there with you.

Evolution

Did you know, that contrary to popular belief, events in the Bible HAVE been proven scientifically. Yes, science can and does support the Bible.
For instance, take that of biblical creation. Evolution is the greatest challenger of creation, is it not? Evolution is indeed one of the reasons why people turn to secularism, after all it gave them a logical basis on which to base their secular beliefs on. So, what's this big proofs we have to show you? Well, join us as we embark on the series called "Journey of Proofs".

The beauty of this Earth is all evidence to the great glory of God. Do you seriously believe there was a big bang and all just poof-ed into existence? Throughout nature, one can find traces of perfect order. Order among chaos, perfections amidst imperfections...one famous example is as follows.
The Golden Ratio (1.1618) can be found in the human body, in DNA, in physics, in space! So many 'coincidences' whether it's even possible not for it to be planned. This leads us to take the theory of creation seriously, because the Bible says that God, the author of life, created everything in the universe according to His perfect plan. And there is no such thing as 'coincidences' in His meticulous sight.

WHY IS EVOLUTION ILLOGICAL?

Unproven ideas:

Nothing gave rise to something at an alleged ‘big bang’
Non-living matter gave rise to life
Single-celled organisms gave rise to many-celled organisms
Invertebrates gave rise to vertebrates
Ape-like creatures gave rise to man
Non-intelligent and amoral matter gave rise to intelligence and morality

According the the evolution theory, we are just another species of animals. Following that logic, how come we are expected to be a class over the rest of the animal kingdom and be deemed as 'superior beings'? Cannibalism is observed among several animal species, but conversely a human eating another human is labelled just wrong. We have brains, not to mention morals and a conscience. Let's face it, the whole concept of us being a superbly evolved form of monkeys is hilarious.

There is a limit to the number of combinations of these chemicals; therefore there are a limited number of trait variations. No new genetic material can be added. Trait changes result in re-arranging the genetic code that is already present. Mixing the available genetic code will produce variations in the trait but will not change into a completely different feature. For example, your parents genes are combined to produce your various traits. People have several different colors of hair, eyes, and skin, but without a mutation, these traits will remain within its boundaries. There are mutations that can occur and mutations almost always cause diseases or defects. However, even under mutation, skin will still be skin and eyes will still be eyes. Because of the code barrier, there are a limited number of variations in eye color. Different genes can create distinct variations but there is a limit. There can be rapid changes but inevitably, there is a return to the norm."

"Survival of the fittest is what thins out the gene pool; it does not increase or add to the genetic data. Natural selection does open the door for adaptation and changes within a species, but it accomplishes just the opposite of what is necessary for evolution. When natural selection occurs, the species that have certain traits are often weeded out. If Darwin had been correct in his observation and the Galapagos Island finches permanently weeded out the shorter beaked finches, they have not added to the gene pool, but they have subtracted genetic code and would no longer have the information necessary to produce offspring that has a shorter beak. Natural selection and evolution work against each other. Natural selection does sometimes make changes within a species, but the progression is downward and not upward – and the species does not become a new species, but rather a variation of the old. A permanent change is a loss of information, but evolution requires the addition of new information. In science we can clearly observe that when a species has a trait that the environment challenges, those who have this trait are weeded out. What has never been observed in science is the addition of new information. Even if an example should be found to have happened by chance, it doesn't help the evolution cause. There must be millions of changes that add to the DNA information, without harming the species. We don't observe this happening. We do observe mutations, but they are a loss of information or a defective copy of information that damages the species."

So in the end the theory of evolution just doesn't make sense to us, even if you look at it 'scientifically'. Supporters of evolution has argued saying that we discount their argument just by 'harping' on 'baseless religion' but here through the very evidence that is supposed to support evolution, it instead proves the opposite.

Faith with Einstein

An atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his class on the problem science has with GOD, the almighty. He asked one of his new christian students to stand.

Professor: You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you Believe in GOD?
Student: Absolutely, sir.
Professor: Is GOD Good ?
Student: Sure.
Professor: s GOD all-powerful?
Student: Yes.
Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm…
(Student was silent )

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

Student: Yes.
Professor: Is Satan good?
Student: No.
Professor: Where does Satan come from ?
Student: From GOD.
Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything . . correct??
Student: Yes.
Professor: So who created evil?
(Student did not answer)
Professor: Is there sickness, immorality, hatred, ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them?
(Student had no answer)

Professor: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son . . . Have you ever seen GOD?
Student: No sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD.
Student: No sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor: Yet you still believe in him?
Student: Yes.
Professor: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing, I only have my faith.
Professor: Yes, faith, and that is the problem science has.
Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student: No sir, there isn’t.
(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the Lecture Theatre )
Student: What about darkness, Professor is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
Student: You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light . . But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
Professor : So what is the point you are making, young man ?
Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality.You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never been seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going )
Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
(The class was in uproar.)
Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor’s brain?
(The class broke out into laughter.)
Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the Student, his face unfathomable.)
Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.
Student: That is it sir . . exactly! The link between man & GOD is faith. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

That student was Albert Einstein.
Concentrate on this sentence. ‘The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.’
